Welcome!
Hello. Welcome to Peace, Love, and Protein Shakes, my bariatric blog. My name is Vanessa and I am 29 years old. I had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass in March 2016.
Why am I just starting to blog about this now? Well, for one, I've had a lot of complications. Two, I am still processing my feelings about this process and where I am in my weight loss journey. I have had so many ups and downs for over two decades with my weight loss, and my problems aren't going to go away overnight. At the end of the day, my surgery was a tool, and now I have to use it properly in order to maximize my weight loss and ensure my overall success.
A bit of a disclaimer: I am NOT a weight loss expert. I am not advertising or endorsing any type of weight loss procedure or surgery in any way. I am not suggesting anything against having weight loss surgery either. This blog is mainly a narrative in which I will use from time to time to process and outline my weight loss journey, successes, and struggles. It is my view from my corner of the world, and that is all. If this serves of purpose and meaning to you, then great. If not, I'm sorry, and you can go to another site if you'd like. Thank you.
Now that we've had all of the fun stuff out of the way, welcome once again to Peace, Love, and Protein Shakes!
Why the title?
For one, I believe in peace. Always.
Two, I want to emphasize the importance of love. Love within myself and love for others. Loving myself throughout this weight loss journey, good or bad. Loving the process.
Three, I am currently on a mostly liquid diet to curb the side effects from my surgery, especially indigestion and frequent vomiting, prescribed especially by my primary care physician. I will not go into too many details about that, though. I don't mean to be vague, but it's not really that important. Basically, I am just drinking a lot of protein shakes, because protein is essential for nutrition after weight loss surgery.
So there you have it. Peace, Love, and Protein Shakes.
My next few entries will cover why I chose to have weight loss surgery, a bit of my personal biography, and current issues and feelings that I am having post-op, hopefully. If there is anything you would like me to address in future entries, please feel free to shoot me a message or a comment. E-mail me at: vrpeacestar@gmail.com. I may even do a few video blog entries if you are interested. I'm open to suggestions!
Have a great day/night/whatever!
Peace always,
Vanessa
